How to face your giant

This was the title of a sermon my pastor did a few months back. But everyday I receive a daily devotion from his desk . For the last few days it has been based on his sermon How to face your giant. So at the end of the devotion we always have a little assignment. Today's was to write a declaration to reassure yourself that you are never alone. I wrote one today and I just wanted to share it with you all. Here is the actually devotion and assignment followed by my declaration! (a statement that is emphatic and explicit)

From the Sermon: How to Face Your Giant

Undefeated. When David was at his best, nobody could beat him. And when David was in his worst, nobody could beat him. That's a snapshot of our lives, because sometimes we're good; sometimes we're at our worst. But it never caused God to distance himself or abandon himself.

Assignment: Read Psalm 91:1-3 and Psalm 118:4-9; then write a declaration to reassure yourself that you are never alone because the God who is enabling you to face your giant is your ever present Help and Deliverer who will not abandon you.

I am never alone. I am always under the guidance of the most high - God. He shall see me through no matter what. He will deliverer me from my enemies. He will keep me in perfect peace. He will always be there to hold me up when I cannot do so for myself. I am never alone, forgotten, or forsaken.

-Bless God.

That was my declaration.. What's yours? Please share...

Rediscovering Me

I was so mad I wanted to spit. On Friday I got into a little confrontation with a nice young lady in the parking lot of Chevy's. She cut me off in the parking lot and then decided she was going to cuss at me. When the nice young lady did this I snapped I saw red! I politely parked my car and followed this nice young lady into the store; I then proceeded to yell at the top of my lungs every ghetto euphemism I could muster in my body. DAMN IT I was mad. After my episode was over I felt like a new person. That one little scene mad me realize that somewhere along the way I had lost myself.

I was no longer that edgy person. My mind started to race when did I lose my edge. Was it when I moved back to DC or was it when I graduated? Was it when I got tired of people telling me I was too rude and blunt? Why was I conforming??

Well I am taking my edge back. I am a fighter and I win end of story. I want to have control over my life again. So I am no longer sitting back and waiting for things to happen. I am grabbing this bull by the horn and I am in the ring with it. I may come out bruised and battered but at least I was in the fight.

Over the last two months I have learned I have more strength then I ever thought I knew I had. It came from my inner most parts and I thankful for that. I realize now that just because I make myself a top priority doesn't mean people will like me any less and if they do then that is their fault not mine.

And to prove that I am still in the fight I have two job interviews this week. Yes, I just started a new job, but I truly believe God wouldn't given me these new opportunities if they were not right for me. So I am taking a chapter from one of my friends and I am trying something new. I thank her for not just saying it but being a living example. So folks remember FIGHT for what you want and for who you want to become. Life is a Journey not a destination.

Life as we know it

Well I have always had this grand idea of how my life should be and while the ideas are still grand I have a more realistic idea of how my life will be. I will be the first to admit I haven't always made the greatest decisions with my money, but i am learning.

In the past two months I have had such an array of emotions, I have been sad, depressed, defeated, happy, anxious, and anything else you can think of. I am going through a major transition in life right now. I see how I want my life to be and I am trying to make the moves for my life to get there.

I had no idea a quarter life crisis was suppose to last two years. Every since I turned 25 it seems like the stable life I once led has cease to exist. It seems like things were so simple before 25. I always had money, little debt and for the most part I was carefree. I had big dreams and an even bigger plan for my life. SO in two years what the hell happen. Did I just fall into a rut?? I am not sure but life as I know it needs to come back to me.

I find myself in the same predicament I was a year ago. Facing the possibility of not having a pay check coming in. And I am scared shitless. I have no idea what I will do or how I will make it.
( I have a fear that I will be living in my car and ruin my credit that I worked so hard forand never own a home)

But there is some beauty in all of this. 365 days later I am in a better place, last year when I was facing the possibility of not having a job, i was anxious, bitter and angry. This year I have face the challenge head on and trust solely in God that I will make it through this. I have been interviewing so my prayer is that someone hires me quickly lol. But if they don't I know that it is God's plan for me. SO I am at peace and waiting for life to return as I know it....

Emotional Unstable and Moody

So I got in trouble today at work. I was accused of not liking my job and being unreliable. I agree to an extent but it is not all completely true.

Now I will be the first to admit I have a hard time getting to work on time, so I am unreliable in that regard. But emotional unstable I just do not get that part and that is what I told my counterpart who decided to reprimand me. She explained that some days I come into work and say very little and other days I come in and talk all day. I have learned a very valuable lesson today, people are going to view you very differently then how you view yourself, you must constantly make changes to make sure you are playing the work game correctly and being accountable. But on the flip side I was told that I do wonderful work expect for the occasional small mistake, which I am working on not making. So now once again I have to prove myself but it is no ones fault but my own. I want a good reference when I leave :)

So I will do my best to become more realiable. I am not perfect but I am striving to be better in life. It is so funny I can hear my mom saying Kimberly you know better, and you of all people who have issues with time, being late you should be ashame of yourself and I am. But I am working on it.

Anyone else have a hard time on their job or is everyone else just perfect LOL

until next time I am still the southern girl living in the big city learning to be more realiable.
peace and blessings.

Growing up is so hard to do...

So financial hardships have forced me to grow up. I am currently looking for a roommate and I hate it. I keep thinking about my one and only roommate from college, she was a lovely girl we just were not suited to live together. I know that I could continue living on my own and make it from pay check to pay check, but that is no way to live. So I am putting on my big girl panties and searching for a roommate.

I have one person who is a friend of mine that has agreed to let me move in with her, not sure if I want to go that route. Ugh I love my space so much and this is going to be the hardest thing I think I have ever had to do, but I am sure the benefits will out way my annoyance right? (insert five year old fit here)* I feel like I am moving backwards instead of forwards. I have lived on my own for three years; now I am searching for a roommate or maybe it is just the grown up thing to do, so I can have a realistic savings account and go gallivanting across the country. Who knows, we shall see. (I think that is a run on ohh well)

Anyone else ever felt like this?

Until next time I am the Southern Girl Living in the big city searching for a roommate.

Peace and Blessings.

* Me throwing my fit. I could not find a brown child go figure!

Day Dreaming and I am thinking of you....

Lately I have been day dreaming a lot. Nothing in particular just about the perfect life, job, mate, car and body. LOL. I quickly have come to realize that all this day dreaming is bad for me. So here is my virtual wake up call... Like in school days WAKE UP, WAKE UP.

Ahh that is better. Not that day dreaming is wrong but for some reason I have a hard time living in reality. My dream world is so much better. So now I am making a conscious effort to make my dream world become a lined more closely to my real world, I know that I will never have my perfect dream world but I can have my little bit of happiness.

So the bottom line is if you want to be happy stop day dreaming get off your rear end and make it happen. We (I) so many times let other people dictate my happiness not any more. I am going for mine, so you make the choice to be happy or not. I choose Happy!

(sing in my best Jill Scott voice)
Living my life like it's golden- I'm taking my freedom
Pulling it off the shelf
Putting it on my chain
Wearing it 'round my neck
I'm taking my freedom
Putting it in my car
Wherever I choose to go
It will take me far

Until then I am the southern girl living in the big city choosing to be happy and thankful for her many blessings.

Peace and Blessings.

T.E.A.R.S

I know I am a few days late with this but.

Wow it has almost been seven years since a group of 14 women came together to become one. As I look back over those seven years I realize I have changed a lot and not at all. I remember walking into that potluck after the long car ride, some people I knew some I did not. But I never imagined I would grow to love these people and be so protective of them.

Although I do not talk to everyone as much as I should I still hold these ladies near and dear to my heart. So this is just a little shot out to let them know. I love you and I care.

Came together January 25 trying to leave with brothers I can kick it with we been hustling a long time....

OUT of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Guess whose back!!!

Ding Ding if you said me you just might be right.

WE are almost a whole month into the new year! Hello 2010 and good bye 2009 with all your emotional roller coasters, heart breaks, good times, and late night ride outs!

I lost a lot of friends but I made a few new ones. I lost a family member and we had a new addition born. The life cycle is funny that way. But all in all one thing remained the same. I was Blessed and Highly Favored, protected and watched over and I thank you Lord for all of your blessings. I am patiently waiting to see what plans you have for me this year. :)

I started this blog as a way to express myself freely and I did not really keep my side of the bargain, so I decided to give it a try again in 2010.

As I mentioned before 2009 was a very hard year for me. I had the most heartache and angst I think I have had in a long time. My emotions flared on every side and it was just plain difficult, but I did learn some very important lessons.

1. When you call a person your friend make sure that you and they both understand what that means. Many people have a different definition of what friendship is so make sure you are both on the same page.

2. You must I repeat you must be happy in the skin you are in. After all it is the only skin you have. :)

3. ACTIONS SPEAK MUCH LOUDER THEN WORDS!! A lot of people go to hell with good intentions or some people say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Make sure if you say you are going to do something do it.

4. You and only you are solely responsible for your happiness and peace of mind. I vowed not to let other people's drama become my own.

5. Peace of mind and spirit are priceless and invaluable. If you don't believe me try living a sane life with out it.

6. That you can not spend your whole life alone in this journey we need other people to surround and support us.

And I think the biggest lesson I learned for 2009 is that I am who I am. For a long time I would try to work on the things that I thought were wrong with me and never really focus on the positive things that made me who I am. I now realize that those things I think I need to work on have help me become who I am. So yes I am moody, rude, mean, stand offish, and sometimes down right impossible to get along with, but I am also loving, caring, nurturing, and very protective of those that I love. So in that case maybe just maybe the good out weight the bad.
So this year I plan on being quintessentially me in my purest, calmest, realest, and most spirtual form.

So until next time,

I am still the southern girl living in the big city and loving it.
peace and blessings!
